Babes in the Wood
Yesterday, I went to Brighton to hear author and former Chief Superintendent Graham Bartlett talking about his new book Babes in the Wood which tells the true story of the two Brighton girls murdered in 1986. The case was a truly dreadful one, not least because the main suspect, Russell Bishop, walked free after the first trial and later attacked another girl who fortunately survived. Following the changes to the law relating to double jeopardy and more recent developments in DNA, Bishop was later convicted of the double murder.
The story of the investigation was told simply and with feeling.
